How to connect Blogger with FriendFeed?

This article explains how to connect your blogger account with a FriendFeed account. In particular, it focuses on connecting your blogger account with a FriendFeed "Group" so that individuals in the group can discuss and share their blogs and ideas with each other, easily.

Pros: 
a. Especially great for students who want to share their blog articles/ideas with each other in an easy fashion
b. You only have to visit one web application - FriendFeed to get updates from all your friends!
c. Blogger and FriendFeed are both Free!


Cons:
a. Initial set up is time consuming. May take 30 min to an hour

The following are the steps to accomplish the goal: sharing your blog with a FriendFeed group

Step-1. Create a blogger Account
First and foremost, you need a blogger account. If you don't have one already, you can easily create one within a few minutes. Go here: http://www.blogger.com/create-blog.g?hca=true

Step-2: Create a FriendFeed Account
You can register for a friendfeed account by filling up the form here: https://friendfeed.com/account/create

Step-3: Create a Group on FriendFeed [Skip this if your classroom already has a group on FriendFeed]


a. Click on the word "Groups" on the right side of the FriendFeed home page.
b. Next, click on "Create a Group" link
c. Provide name and username and create a group. Create a public group for convenience.







Step 4: Subscribe to the group on FriendFeed
If you already know the name of the group, you can simply use the "Find groups" link and search for the group name. Once you find it, you can subscribe to it.

Step 5: Go to blogger
a. Login to blogger home page
b. Click on "Design tab". Next, click on "Edit HTML"
c. Click on "Expand Widget Templates"
d. in the html code below
e. You will find two instances



























Step 6: Go back to FriendFeed
a. Go to http://friendfeed.com/embed/link
b. Choose blogging platform: "blogger"
c. Now copy the HTML code that is in the textbox




Step 7: Go to blogger -again!
a. Paste the HTML code right after (You will find the div. tag twice, so you need to post the HTML code twice inside the Edit Template textfield).
b. Click on "Save Template" button



























Step 8: Test
a. Create a new post. I created one called "test A".
b. Now view your blog and check to see whether you see the FriendFeed icon.











Step 9: Share your blog with the FriendFeed Group
a. Click on the "Share on FriendFeed" link.
b. If you are already logged into FriendFeed, you will be able to share immediately by clicking the "Post" button.

























Step 10: View updates in the group
At this point, your blog will be visible to all your friends in the group!



































DONE!!


Congratulations! You are now done. You can grab a cup of coffee and start blogging and sharing.
To see updates from your friends, you just have to be logged on to FriendFeed!
